Opens with Katie wishing John luck on his first day with balloons and other cute stuff (Gavin’s first day at work) He asks her to leave because she’s embarrassing him and he’s waiting for the headteacher to give him his schedule. Steven arrives and introduce himself to both of them, then Katie leaves saying “see you later”. Steven gives John schedule, his class is 11c. John leaves, Lacie Bell enters, introduces the relationship between her and Steven.
Scene 2 – HEADTEACHER – 8 minutes

Starts with Sarah bauling eyes out about sharps and hashtags, while Jacqueline and Katie are offering her baked goods to cheer her up. John enters and Katie runs up to him and is overly affectionate in front of his work friends. Teachers talk/complain about class 11C. John and Sarah Chandler leave. Development of the relationship between Steven Hughes and Lacie Bell.

Introduction of Lily struggling with her work, something John notices and wants to help her with.

Setting: Separate Houses – Split Stage.

It’s the anniversary of Steven and Jacqueline first meeting, Jacqueline Hughes gifts him with a thoughtful present which makes him doubt his affair. John talks to girlfriend Katie Carmichael about his time at the school and his student, Lily. He mentions Lacie and Steven’s relationship and Katie tells him that Steven has a wife, Jacqueline. Conversations link up, couples still act while the other couple is talking. The conversations should flow as if their one (Or at least connect correctly)

Steven wants to end his relationship with Lacie, she resists as she wants the promotion and threatens to tell his wife if he doesn’t give it to her. Lacie opens the door to Jacqueline, Jacqueline walks in and Lacie leaves, Jacqueline and Steven talk about what had just happened, Steven bullshits about something so she doesn’t find out about the affair.
Scene 6 – LILY – 4 Minutes

A parent/teacher meeting about Lily’s progress at school. Parents argue with John as they think he’s called Lily stupid.
Teachers on one side of the stage smoking, open the scene with “He fucked that one up didn’t he”. The dialogue alternates, with the teacher’s ‘giving advice’ about what he should have done/said to prevent it from happening.
Scene 7 – MAIN AND LILY – 4 minutes

Lily and John Smith have a heart-to-heart while working towards her exams. Her parents are emotionally and mentally abusive – not directly mentioned but hinted at. (SUBTEXT YAAAAAAAAY)

Set during a staff party taking place elsewhere. Jacqueline, Sarah, Katie and John discuss the newly announced deputy head and how she must have worked really hard to earn it. Jacqueline leaves, Katie and John discuss the affair and whether John should act on the unfair grounds of Lacie’s promotions. Steven and Lacie enter and John and Katie leave. They discuss the promotion, affair, and kiss, Jacqueline enters and sees this and is obviously distraught, she asks them how they could do this to her.
